My Favorite Childhood Snack: Silk Tofu in a Tube

Ever since I was a kid, I loved eating silk tofu. It had to be the kind that came in a tube. I didn’t like the fried one because I thought it tasted like bad breath. Whenever I wanted silk tofu, I’d say to my mom, Mama, please buy me tsup tsup. I called it tsup tsup because of the way I ate it. After snipping off the top of the tube, I sucked out the tofu by slurping it up to the top of the tube.

I love taking ugly pictures of my mom. I think her ugly pictures are so cute. Hahaha.

Little Ja was in a green van with a bunch of adults–my mom and my classmates’ parents. I don’t remember why we were in that van or where we were going, but I remember looking at these adults, listening to them talk, and hearing the burst of dignified low-pitched laughter that lasted like a bolt of lightning. I was confused.
