The other day I went to SM Megamall and wrote in the food court. Amidst the clatter of utensils and the chatter of friends, I was able to write. I see writing in a food court as a sort of training, a training against excuses writers use to permit themselves to leave papers blank.

My mom and I are mall rats. Yesterday, we went to several malls so that I could use up the gift checks that I got from work. Malls have become the parks of the Philippines. Leisurely walking under the huge green trees of Mother Nature is delightful, but if you do this under the hot humid Philippine sun, it’s more like walking through hell than a walk in the park.
