My Semi-macrobiotic Diet

One time my mother made me go on a modified version of a macrobiotic diet—no meat, no sugar, no milk, no cheese, brown not white rice, brown not white bread. When I ate oatmeal, I would eat it as it is with no sugar or milk. Everything was bland.

There was a point during my diet that if I ate something tasty, I’d feel like vomiting. My taste buds suddenly became trained to crave for bland food. That was so weird, but I did feel great because the diet gave me lots of energy. The diet was not sustainable though because come Christmas time there was lechon, and all hell broke loose.
