Writing Challenge: Write in a Noisy Food Court

The other day I went to a mall and wrote in the food court. Amidst the clatter of utensils and the chatter of friends, I began to write. I see writing in a food court as a vital part of my training as a writer.

We are all told that in order to write we have to go to an exotic country and rent a quiet room with a magnificent view, or we have to create a special sanctuary in our house that is free from noise and other kinds of distractions. I say pick a noisy place, sit down, and write. Stop using less than perfect scenarios as excuses to procrastinate. Train yourself to drown out the noise in the food court and just write.
