No Screens After 8PM

We live in a digital world, and I love technology. Being overly stimulated by gadgets though can be bad. In books like Thrive by Arianna Huffington and The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin I read about the importance of putting away gadgets hours before you go to sleep. If we are too immersed with our techie stuff or it is disturbing our dark room with their light, we might not be able to sleep well, and this is something I experienced in the past.

So now I made a rule for myself. Since I sleep at 10p.m, I have a no-screens after 8p.m. rule. So at this time, I shut down my laptop, and I take the laptop along with my cellphones and tablet and place it inside a drawer. Sometimes, I can’t resist them. I still open the drawer and check my phone, but now I’m getting better at it. I am sleeping better as well. Yey!
