2024 Masterlist (Life Plans, New Year’s Resolutions, Advice, Top 4 Goals, etc.)

Reflections about 2023:

  • I don’t remember my 2023 new secret goal for personal growth
  • I attended yoga classes so that was a goal that I met
  • I set up Patreon but haven’t earned from it
  • I submitted seven times, got accepted twice, one still has no result. The two acceptances are for feminist conferences.
  • I said BOS wasn’t important anymore but now I’m thinking to restart it.
  • I did not bike once a day. Recently I haven’t been biking at all
  • I was able to lessen sugar but this Christmas I increased again
  • I don’t know why the important descriptions don’t call to me anymore.

Reflections About 2021:

I have been trying to organize my writing life, and I did submit a few times, but I’m beginning to realize that maybe I don’t really care about getting published. Why? I mean, I care about the prestige. I wish I didn’t. However, there’s still a part of me that wants to be validated as a writer. On the other hand, I don’t care about being published because, in the past, my published works have vanished online, and I mostly did not get compensated for what I submitted. This makes me think, what’s the point in submitting when I can just publish it in my blog? At least in my blog, I can ensure that my work will always be online and also that the format is something I can control. Yes, I won’t get paid when I post it in my blog, but neither will I be when I submit to publications. This year, I’m exploring other platforms.

Realized that I Do Have Healthy Coping Mechanisms

I recently talked to my mom about my blog post My New Year’s Resolutions: Healthier Coping Mechanisms where I discuss how I realized that I have unhealthy coping mechanisms like stress eating and making waldas. Then she said that I also use walking to self sooth, and then she proceeded to list other things that I do that are healthy self-soothing mechanisms. That’s when I realized that I do have healthy self-soothing mechanisms, and they are:

My New Year’s Resolutions: Healthier Coping Mechanisms

I recently attended an online talk called Talk on Self-Care for Advocates by Luka Lucena of Lunas Collective. She made the participants do a jamboard where we wrote down our self-care strategies. Of course I wrote something like writing, doing a digital detox, making crafts, karaoke, which were perfectly acceptable ways to cope with stress and anxiety.

Reflections About This Year and Past Lists:

I almost forgot about doing this, and I can’t believe another year is about to begin. Christmas is my favorite time of the year, and making these plans for my future is one of the things that I love about this time of the year.

I was able to organize my writing life a little. I threw out a lot of old stories that I wasn’t going to finish anymore, so I Marie Kondo-ed my writing life, leaving only the essential ones.

When I was younger, I wanted to be famous like the pop stars. Later on, I realized that something like that will be toxic, so I decided to revise it to “calibrated fame”, which means being famous in a certain community as I would like to be recognized for my skills and abilities. Now, I have erased that part. Yes, it would still be nice to be recognized for my skills and abilities, but recognition, validation, and fame are never the reason for why I do what I do. I love learning, writing, performance, music, and creativity, and I will continue to do it with or without validation from society. That’s kind of my new realization these days: a rejection of my need to be validated, especially for my writing skills.
